The Frankston Blues are pleased to announce that together with Peninsula Sports Medicine Group and our Blues Strength and Conditioning team we will be hosting our first annual Athlete Development Week.

From Sunday the 28th of October to Friday the 2nd of November we will be running workshops and seminars focused on developing athletes both on and off the court.

On the Sunday morning Peninsula Sports Medicine Group Physiotherapist Simon Johnson and Podiatrist Paul Karak will run 45 minute seminars focused on Injury Prevention and Management as well as the importance of choosing correct footwear.

While that is taking place in the boardroom our Strength and Conditioning (S&C) team will be on court taking athletes through a basic Performance Testing session.

These sessions will include taking the athletes through a warm up protocol followed by 10m sprint using time gates, vertical leap testing using the Vertec apparatus and various other tests that will help our team collate some baseline data to be measured against towards the end of preseason.

Our S&C team will also design and provide take-home programs for all Blues athletes to help them develop their strength and power in their own time.

The team will be back on court again on the Friday afternoon to catch any athletes that may have missed out during the Sunday session.

On the Tuesday afternoon we will be hosting a Nutrition Seminar for Blues players, this seminar will be conducted by Peninsula Sports Medicine Group’s Nutritionist, Kristen Adams.

Kristen will cover off on the importance of choosing the correct fuel sources for optimum performance and recovery as well as talking specifically about pre-game and post-game nutrition.

We are extremely lucky to have access to health care professionals through the Peninsula Sports Medicine team and our S&C coaches.

Whilst these sessions are not mandatory for all players and parents we do encourage you to take advantage of these services.

Providing a holistic approach to developing our athletes is something the club will be placing greater importance on moving forward.
