Peninsula Sports Medicine Group have reinforced their support for the Frankston Blues program by returning as sponsors for the 2019 NBL1 season.

With both the ‘Frankston RSL’ Blues men and ‘Powerade’ Blues women falling victim to an unusually high number of injuries throughout their 2018 SEABL campaigns, the team at Peninsula Sports Medicine (PSM) group were made to work harder than normal to keep a team on the court! With a dedicated team of highly trained and experienced sports medicine professionals, they were able to use a multidisciplinary approach to injury management, advice and prevention.

One half of the Blues’ strength and conditioning team, Jason Davies spoke glowingly of the support PSM Group was able to provide the club.

“Talking from experience last year, it was great to have a holistic off court performance team including Peninsula Sports Medicine,” said Davies.

“They provided high quality and experienced physiotherapy and injury rehabilitation programs for all players. This allowed for strong communication channels between the players, coaching staff and performance team to get the best advice on training and return to playing post any injuries.

“Peninsula are also able to provide screenings and assessments to help put together preventative measures so players can address weaknesses before they miss games. The biggest goal of any high performance team is to keep players, playing. Peninsula Sports Medicine Group is a big part of this process.”

As Davies alluded to, PSM provides best practice, sports medicine and allied health expertise to all their valued patients. Treating their patients with the level of care, dignity and respect that they expect, the team from PSM strictly adhere to all the various professions’ governing codes of conduct and ethics for patient peace of mind.

What is also helpful for the Frankston basketball community is that the team at PSM also keep abreast of the latest scientific research in the areas of sports injury management and, in turn, make these services available to these patients for optimum injury management. They then also go one step further, providing additional wellness services to the non-injured client such as Pilates, bike setup, exercise groups and the like, to improve quality of life but also athletic performance.

Blues Chairman Chris Beattie explained that the PSM group were fantastic supporters of the community.

“Peninsula Sports Medicine Group have been supporting the local community for over 20 years, and it is great to have them on board supporting Frankston Basketball again in 2019,” said Beattie.

“As we saw last season with our Blues teams who were both struck down by injury, the work that PSM did off the court with our players was second to none. Player health and welfare is of paramount importance to us, and it is just fantastic to have the best sports medicine group going around supporting Frankston basketball.”

With seven locations spread across the Mornington Peninsula, PSM have services that will meet every sports medicine need. For more information and to make an online booking, visit their website at www.psmgroup.com.au.
