Eltham came into the Frankston Basketball Stadium on Saturday afternoon and walked out with an impressive 9-point victory.

The Blues got the jump on the Wildcats in the first quarter as they caught fire instantly, hitting four of their first five shots to pile on 11 quickfire points in just over three minutes.

The range of Eltham’s phenomenal Guard Chelsie Schweers kept the Wildcats in touch, as she drained back-to-back threes in the opening period to keep her side within four points at the break.

From there on it was all Wildcats, stepping up their defensive pressure to hold Frankston to just 43 points after the quarter-time break to run out 67-76 victors.

Schweers finished with 24 points, a fraction over her 22.6 PPG season average, while Vanessa Panousis added 19 points thanks to nailing nine of her 11 free throws.

Eltham will look to make it a perfect weekend when they host cellar-dwellers Ballarat on Sunday, while the Blues will look to their Round 7 matchup with Knox.
