A huge club congratulations are in order to the Under 14.1 Girls, after qualifying for Australian Under 14 Club Championships.

The 2019 Australian Under-14 Club Championships is set to be hosted by Basketball Ballarat between 30 September and 5 October.

The event provides the only opportunity to athletes to represent their clubs at a national level, teams must qualify through their respective state championships in order to gain entry to the prestigious event.

The tournament gives the nation’s budding stars an introduction to representative competition in the first step within Basketball Australia’s elite junior program.

Head Coach Adam Kerr went into the final qualifying game against Kilsyth Cobras knowing the potential outcome.

“Going into tonight’s game both teams were tied with only 1% separating us.”

“I was real confident in our ability to get the win because of the girls attitude towards sacrificing their own game at times for each other and their desire to want to play both ends of the floor”

The team for now, will re-aim the focus on closer things to come.

“Next up is the Classic, looking adding 2 girls to our group and bring them up to speed with what we’re doing and trying to achieve.”

The Nationals running for a week the team will also look to book accomodation and travel.

“Fundraising will be huge, so we’ll be looking for any sponsors looking to get onboard”
