The Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence played host to Frankston as they looked to secure a second-straight win after a 37-point demolition job of Launceston in Round 8.

The Blues were looking for an immediate response after heartbreakingly falling two points short of a stirring comeback win versus Ballarat in Round 9, and started hot with an 11-4 run. But BA hit back, with five first-quarter bench points to each of Paige Price,Jade Melbourne and Gemma Potter ensuring the CoE went into the break trailing by just one.

Frankston flexed their muscles in the second period, with forward Shereesha Richards (26 points, 12 rebounds) recording 14 first-half points enroute to a double-double, giving the Blues an eight-point advantage at the half.

BA started the second half strongly, as Potter (14 points) continued her first-half form with six consecutive points for the CoE. But for every Potter bucket, Frankston’s Courtney Wilkins (14 points) seemingly had an answer, before Richards took over again as the Blues extended their lead to 20 at the final break.

Stephanie Reid (23 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists) filled the stat sheet as Frankston took the foot off the pedal and cruised home to a 12-point victory.
