For the second week in a row, overtime was needed to determine a winner at the Southern Basketball Stadium.

Both teams were gridlocked at the end of the fourth term as the Sabres overturned a three-point deficit to send the game into overtime.

The game continued to be evenly contested in OT with scores gridlocked, until a bucket by Shereesha Richards with 20 seconds left on the clock gave the Blues the lead.

Richards was instrumental for the Blues in the 97-96 win, scoring 40 points along with 14 rebounds and seven assists. Richards was supported by Saraid Taylor who had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Courtney Wilkins had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Tenaya Phillips starred for the Sabres with 24 points, while Amy O’Neill had 22 points and 10 assists in the Sabres’ agonising defeat.

Southern came out firing in the first term to score 24 points and lead by 12 points at quarter-time. The Sabres dominated both ends of the court to hold the helpless Blues to only 12 points in the term.

Frankston improved in the second term and began to find their feet on offence. The Blues scored 18 points in the term, yet conceded 21 points to allow the Sabres to take a 15-point lead into half time.

Frankston worked their way back into the contest in the third term, courtesy of 13 points from Richards who gave the Blues a three-point lead at three-quarter-time.

The Blues led by as much as six points in the fourth quarter, but the Sabres cut the margin and the game was sent to overtime, where the Blues were able to claim a one-point win.

Frankston dominated the paint and finished the game with 62 points in the key. They also 18 offensive rebounds and scored 19 second-chance points.
