U14 Club Champ Daily Recaps
The last few days have been filled with a lot of excitement and nervous energy in the lead up to Game 1.
This carried over to the initial minutes of the game where the girls were not composed.
After an early time out the girls found their groove and began to showcase their talent.
They hustled after loose balls, ran the floor well and played as a unit.
If the selflessness of today continues, the girls pose a big threat to other teams.
Our defensive intensity, paired with our athleticism was no match for the Thunder.
The Blues came away with a 77-35 victory over Logan Thunder.
A rollercoaster of emotions in day two for the Blues.
Solid win in the early game against Sturt, to hold on to top spot in Pool E.
Followed by a game where everything that could go wrong did.
Lost to a quality outfit in Newcastle, meaning a 2nd place finish.
We now head into Pool AA facing Queensland State Champions Ipswich first, then Victorian State Runners Up Melbourne.
Tough next phase for our girls but they are up for the challenge!
The girls battled hard yesterday against Queensland State Champions Ipswich.
Down by 9 at 3/4 time, the team dug deep, showing immense courage and mental toughness to close the gap, taking the lead with 3 minutes to go.
In an outstanding team effort, the Blues came away with a hard earned victory, also guaranteeing a spot in the Elite 8!
The team is now gearing up to play perennial powerhouse Melbourne for top spot in Pool AA.
Day 4 saw the Blues take on both of the VC Championship grand finalists in Melbourne and Hawthorn.
They are the two best teams in Victoria for a reason!
We competed well with both for a half but our inconsistency with boxing out hurt us and contributed heavily in both losses.
The team has regrouped and is excited about the opportunity for revenge against Newcastle!
After two tough losses yesterday against the #1 & #2 Victorian teams who are also #1 & #2 in the nation, the Blues bounced back in stellar fashion today.
Facing Newcastle who’d beaten us by 16 points on Tuesday, we took no prisoners and won by 28!
A massive 44 point turnaround!
It was a galvanising victory that will hopefully spur us on to seize 5th place in the nation when we take on Bankstown tomorrow at 12.30. Go Blues!
