Regional Academy is proud to announce the return of the Shooting School.

The program will be available to Representative (VJBL) Level players in Term 4, 2020 – players will have the opportunity to get shots up Monday and Wednesday morning’s beginning on Monday the 28th of October (no session on Monday the 4th – Melbourne Cup Weekend).

NBL1 sharp shooters Lachlan Barker and Courtney Wilkins will be running the sessions and guiding players through a 45 minute workout (7:00am-7:45am) where the goal is to get over 300 shots up.

Drills will be a mix of form shooting, catch and shoot repetition work, shooting off the move and shooting off the dribble under the guidance of two of Frankston’s best shooters.

FDBA Basketball Development Manager, Jarryd Moss was pleased to be able to bring back this program;

“We’ve been looking at ways we can maximise opportunities for players to get more shots up”.

“Our stadium bookings are at capacity in the afternoons and evenings so we wanted to offer them a chance to get some targeted work done in the mornings”.

Moss continued to talk about the positive impact having NBL1 players involved in these programs and other programs was having;

“It’s a great sign for our club to have senior players of this calibre wanting to get involved with our juniors”

“Obviously with this program we’ve got Lachlan and Courtney but there aren’t too many mornings throughout the week where you come in to Frankston Stadium at 6:30am and don’t see Steph Reid, Najeal Young and other senior players working with someone”

“Their impact stretches far beyond what they do on the court and their knowledge of the game is elite, the Shooting School won’t be the last of the Advanced Programs that we look to offer because these guys are keen to work with players who are motivated and want to get better”.
