Mental Health and Wellbeing Session
Frankston & District Basketball Association in conjunction with South East Melbourne Phoenix and Headspace Frankston are facilitating a mental health and wellbeing session to support our players and families.
Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing.
This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
A one hour information session will be conducted on Tuesday 26th November (6:30 pm to 7:30 pm) at Frankston Basketball Stadium (Court 1) to chat about our mental health.
Attendance by all players and families within the association is encouraged, with members of both the Frankston Blues Senior program and South East Melbourne Phoenix present.
FDBA General Manager Wayne Holdsworth spoke about the event, its significance to the Frankston region.
“Good Mental health is important for us all and often it is easy to dismiss a mental health issue with just feeling “down” for a few days and we will “snap out of it” this view could not be further from the truth.”
“Our Board in setting its strategic plan for the next 5 years clearly identified the need for the FDBA to further contribute to the community and this is one way where we can assist our youth.”
“We chose Headspace as they are the experts in this critical area of education in this region and we are delighted to partner with them and with our new NBL partner South East Melbourne Phoenix.”
With the full support of the Frankston Blues Coach Coordinators, trainings for player Under 16s, 18s and Youth League will not run on the night, to specifically encourage athletes in that age bracket to attend.
The event will have an open door to anyone that wishes to attend. No registration required.
